1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your email address, first name, and optionally your last name. Your password is stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot recover it in plain text.
Household and pantry data
PantryTracker stores the food inventory data you enter: item names, quantities, expiry dates, barcodes, and related information. This data is associated with your household and is only accessible to household members you have invited.
Usage data
We do not currently collect analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry beyond what is necessary for the application to function (e.g., server access logs).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the PantryTracker service and sync data across your household's devices
- To send household invitations and other transactional emails you trigger
- To authenticate your account securely using JWT tokens
- To respond to support requests submitted via our contact form
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your pantry data is shared only with members of your household within the app.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
4. Data Retention
Your account and associated data are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
5. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted communications (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and time-limited access tokens. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your data.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
